Alex Berdysheff has reached his own years of transformations he finally reached his own style – a sophisticated synthesis of surrealism, abstractionism and pop art elements. He uses oil and acrylic painting techniques and his minimalistic compositions usually consist of few objects of deep vibrant colour. Surrealistic method of such artists as Miro, Ernst and Matta is the basis of Berdysheff’s art – it is his “navigational system” in artist’s own words. Like many other artists Berdysheff is inspired by the surrealistic revolt against the common sense and realistic means of art. However, his approach is based on revealing the Enigma hidden behind the everyday life. The artist takes inspiration from casual words, incidents, objects and starts the long journey to the unknown with a single brush stroke. Berdysheff never foresees the final result of his work, but rather lets it construct itself like a self-developing organism. His canvases are monumental, yet intimate; sophisticated, yet enigma behind them seems incredibly close to us. Although Berdysheff’s art is full of philosophical questions, it’s also an example of an outstanding compositional and colouristic skills: every piece is a carefully designed structure, which brings a sensation of balance and precision upon the viewer. Alex Berdysheff combines the methods of modern and contemporary artists and creates powerful authentic art.
